La Trappe Quadrupel (Koningshoeven / Dominus) from Bierbrouwerij De Koningshoeven B.V.
Rating: B
Bottle is very different from the one in the picture, but it appears to be the same beer.
Appearance: An orange tinted, clear garnet color, decent-sized head with mediocre retention. Minor lacing.
Smell: Typical dark fruits, plus berry, over a Belgian dark candi carameliness and a hint of alcohol.
Taste: Fruity and malty, tastes almost "tropical" at the swallow, like a boat drink. Slightly tart. Alcohol is evident.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, carbonation as expected for the style.
Drinkability: Moderated by high alcohol and what seems to me an unnecessary tartness.
Serving type: bottle
